September 19: Biohacking meetup – How to cope with stress in the workplace

Evenementen

What is the influence of stress on the brain? What is the impact of stress on your health? Stress is major contributor to the six leading causes of death: heart disease, cancer, lung disease, accidents, cirrhosis of the liver and suicide. Stress decreases brain function, metabolism (leading to obesity), immunity and the ability to heal. So it is in our best interest to reduce stress in our lives.

Stress in the workplace

How can you deal with stress in the workplace? Or how can you help your employees to cope with stress? Research shows that stress keeps workers absent for an average of 22,6 days a year. Stress is also reported to be the second most frequently reported work-related health problem in Europe. Around half of the workers consider it to be common in the workplace.

Living labs

The startup Living Labs focusses on stress reduction, specifically in work environments. They have fabricated pods embedded with sensors and visual and auditory feedback to help measure stress and build a profile of the relaxation means which will help the user. During the meetup they wil talk about the concept and products. You can even get to try the product for yourself.
