What is it about?
Hospital stays are getting shorter all the time and complex patients are taken care of in their own homes more and more. The line between hospital and community care is blurring. This means that scarce and specialized knowledge needs to be available in many locations. Virtual wards are a way to connect home care to highly specialized knowledge through advanced technologies and processes. By using remote monitoring, telehealth, advanced algorithms and other technologies it becomes possible to deliver the right care, at the right time, at the right place, at the right price. Cold technology for warm care!

Elie Rusthoven will talk about the virtual ward concept where one platform for remote care can help the population of Amsterdam and how eHealth can solve the shortage of health staff.

Patrick Blanshard will discuss eShift and what it can mean as innovative solution for virtual wards for chronically ill and palliative patients.
